Welcome!November 2009Dear friends,While the outcome of the election was not what we had hoped for, we can take comfort in knowing that we ran a good race and be proud of the work that we did. I am very grateful for the many volunteers who sacrificed personal time to educate voters about this important election and the many financial contributors to my campaign committee. Both were critical in getting our message out.Though we lost the election, in the process we delivered a message on the value of education to thousands of residents in Douglas County. While we cannot know the impact of our efforts, our message was heard and we have raised awareness on the value of education within our community.Delana Maynes was absolutely essential to our efforts and I extend my heartfelt thanks to her. Susie McMahon was also instrumental throughout the campaign. To give so much of their personal time speaks volumes to their dedication and commitment to our schools. Thank you, Delana and Susie.I also appreciate the efforts of Kevin Leung, Kristine Turner, and Emily Hansen who extended themselves not only as candidates, but as volunteers in my camp as well. I have great respect for each of them. Now, more than ever, we must remain vigilant and involved. I intend to continue my volunteer work with our schools to ensure that our children continue to receive an outstanding education in Douglas County and I encourage you to remain engaged as well. A Facebook page called "Involved Douglas County Teachers and Citizens" has been launched and will provide you with suggestions on how you can remain informed and involved in our schools. www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=170409432917&ref=mf.Again, thanks to the many volunteers and contributors to my campaign. I appreciate your help and support and hope that you will continue your involvement with Douglas County schools.Sue Catterall |
